The honest answer is that it depends on your phone. A screen for an older budget phone and a screen for a recent Pro model are very different parts, so the price range is wide. Here are our starting prices in Kampala, and what moves the price up or down.
Starting prices by phone tier
- Budget devices: UGX 50,000–90,000
- Mid-range: UGX 90,000–180,000
- Flagship and Pro models: UGX 180,000–550,000
These are starting prices with parts and labour included. We confirm the exact price for your model after a quick check, and before any work begins. You can see them next to our other repairs on the repair prices page.
What changes the price
The model. Newer phones use more expensive displays. OLED screens on Pro models cost more than the LCD screens on older and cheaper phones.
The quality of the screen. Screens come in different quality levels, from genuine parts to aftermarket ones. A lower price can mean a dimmer picture, weaker touch or a screen that fails sooner. Ask which one your quote is for. Our guide to genuine vs fake parts explains the difference.
Other damage. If the phone was dropped hard or got wet, the screen may not be the only problem. A new screen will not fix a fault on the board, and we tell you that before you spend money. See how to tell glass damage from display damage.
How to avoid paying twice
- Switch the phone off if it is flickering or showing coloured lines, and bring it in as soon as you can.
- Ask for the price and the screen quality before the repair starts.
- Choose a repair shop that gives a warranty. Ours is 60 days on the repair we do.
- Fit a screen protector on the new screen. We sell iPhone screen protectors from UGX 10,000.
When a repair is not the best choice
If your phone is very old, has several faults, or the repair price is close to what a good used phone costs, it can make sense to look at a replacement instead. Read our guide on repairing or replacing a broken phone, or see what we have on the pre-owned page.
